What Alpha School asked for

A school event needs an activity that gets people moving and gives them something to compare. Alpha School had both of those in its request.

The school in Playa Vista, Los Angeles, planned its Alpha School Showcase for October 14, 2026, from 3 to 5 PM. It wanted a hands-on activity for the program. It asked for a digital leaderboard by name.

The room was the hard part. The indoor activity space sat on the second floor, and the only way in was up the stairs from the main entrance.

For other formats we run for campuses, see our page on school and college event entertainment.

One surf station with a leaderboard

You get a complete station, so the school didn't have to supply a screen or a computer. We offered a one-station and a two-station version, and Alpha School chose one. The booking covered:

  • Surf simulator. The board guests stand on, plus the gaming system and software that run the ride.
  • Gameplay display. A screen that shows each ride to the people waiting in line.
  • Digital leaderboard. A ranking of scores on a screen next to the board.
  • Our team on the day. Delivery, installation, configuration, help for each participant and breakdown.

Getting the station up the stairs

Our team did the lifting, and the schedule had time for the stairs.

  1. Step 1: Noon

    • We arrived at the main entrance with the station.
    • The carry. Our team took every piece up the stairs to the second-floor room.
    • Setup. We installed the board, connected the display and set up the leaderboard.
  2. Step 2: 3 PM

    • The program opened with the station ready.
    • Three hours between arrival and opening left room for the stairs and for testing.
  3. Step 3: 5 PM

    • The program ended.
    • We carried everything back down.

How the surf station worked on the day

Participants rode the board, and everyone in the room could follow the ride on the screen.

A participant stepped onto the board and steered the ride with balance and body movement. The display made each attempt visible. The leaderboard let participants compare their scores with the people before them. The Alpha School Showcase took place with the surf station as planned.

There were no prizes on record. We didn't count players.

Can we get a leaderboard with the surf simulator?

Yes. Ask for it in your inquiry, and we'll add the ranking screen to the booking.

Do we need to run a tournament?

No. At Alpha School the leaderboard let participants compare scores, with no bracket and no prizes on record. If you want a competition with winners, tell us, and we'll set it up.
