Destination Management Company in Chicago

Run your group's Chicago days with a DMC that times every transfer from O'Hare and Midway and books rooms within walking distance of McCormick Place.

Why a DMC in Chicago saves your agenda

A Chicago group program ties a big convention to a busy airport and a spread-out city, and a local plan keeps those three pieces in sync.

O'Hare handled nearly 85 million passengers in 2025 and sits about 17 miles northwest of downtown. United and American both run hubs there, so a group from many offices lands across a whole day. Some guests fly into Midway on the South Side instead, which the Orange Line serves. We build pickups from the flight list and keep a host at each airport while arrivals continue.

Then comes the convention. McCormick Place is a mile south of the Loop, and your group will likely sleep downtown or in the hotels around it. Shuttles that use the 2.5-mile McCormick Place Busway from Lower Randolph Street skip much of the surface traffic, and our timings follow that route.

Hotels, river and lakefront venues for groups

The corporate event venues in Chicago that work best for groups sit where your guests already are: next to the convention center, on the river or along the lake.

Hotels at McCormick Place

The Marriott Marquis Chicago opened in 2017 with 1,161 rooms and 44 suites, linked to the convention center by an enclosed footbridge. The Hyatt Regency faces McCormick Square on the other side. In January or February, a covered walk to the show floor matters to your guests.

Wintrust Arena

The 10,387-seat arena opened in 2017 just north of the West Building. It hosts concerts and conventions as well as games, so a general session or awards night can stay on the convention campus.

Museum Campus

The 57-acre lakefront park holds the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium, America's first planetarium. Lakeside Center of McCormick Place sits at its south end, which makes the museums an easy evening stop for a show group.

The river

Chicago's First Lady runs the Chicago Architecture Center's river cruise from 111 E. Wacker Drive, April through November. The Riverwalk along the south bank adds restaurants, bars and boat rentals for a group dine-around.

Skydeck and Wrigley Field

The Willis Tower Skydeck sits on the 103rd floor, 1,353 ft up, with glass ledges that opened in 2009. Wrigley Field, open since 1914, seats 41,649 for a Cubs game outing on the North Side.

Chicago weeks that shape your dates

A citywide event can close streets and sell out downtown rooms, so we check your dates against these first.

  • May

The National Restaurant Association Show fills McCormick Place on May 22 to 25, 2027.

  • Late July to early August

Lollapalooza brings about 400,000 people to Grant Park, right next to the Loop hotels.

  • September, even years

IMTS, next on September 11 to 16, 2028, takes over McCormick Place for a week.

  • Second Sunday in October

The Chicago Marathon starts and finishes in Grant Park. In 2024, 52,062 runners finished, and the course closes streets across the city on race morning.

  • Late November

RSNA, the radiology meeting, runs November 29 to December 3, 2026, and November 14 to 18, 2027.

  • Your own meeting

If your group comes for its own meeting, our conference planning team can run the sessions while we handle the city.

What your Chicago program includes

  • Airport arrivals. Coaches or cars per arrival wave at O'Hare and Midway.
  • Rooms near the work. Hotel blocks by McCormick Place, in the Loop or near O'Hare, picked by where your sessions run.
  • Group dining. River-level restaurants, a private room in Fulton Market or a museum reception.
  • Evening program. Racing and flight simulators, VR and AI photo booths from our own stock, run by our operators.
  • Hosts. Staff for check-in, transfers and every activity, with one program manager on call.
  • Venue paperwork. Insurance documents and load-in times settled with each venue before your group arrives.

You approve one schedule, and our team carries it out from the arrivals hall to the final dinner.

Want a photo moment at the welcome reception? Our photo booth rental in Chicago brings an AI or 360 booth with an attendant.

What moves a Chicago program quote

One quote lists each day and service separately, so you can trade a river cruise for a museum night and see the change at once. Every program gets a custom quote. In Chicago, these details move it:

  • Group size and number of nights.
  • Arrivals at one airport or both, and how they spread across the day.
  • Hotel area: McCormick Place, the Loop or O'Hare.
  • The season, and whether your dates hit a big city event week.
  • Coaches, venues, restaurant bookings and activities.
  • Interactive stations and the staff who run them.

Chicago rules that affect a group program

A handful of Chicago rules change routes, dates and outdoor plans, and we account for them in the first draft.

  • No trucks on Lake Shore Drive. Trucks may not use the Drive except between I-55 and 31st Street. Our equipment reaches lakefront venues by city streets, and we plan the extra time.
  • Street and plaza events. A city special event permit from DCASE opens 180 days out and closes 21 days before the date. Review can take 35 business days.
  • Parks. The Chicago Park District runs its own application for events in its parks, including the lakefront.
  • Race and festival closures. Marathon morning and Lollapalooza week close streets around Grant Park. We move pickups to hotel doors outside the closures.
  • Rail at any hour. The Blue Line runs to O'Hare around the clock, which helps a late arrival get downtown if a flight lands after the last shuttle.

Questions about destination management in Chicago

What is meant by DMC for a Chicago trip?

A destination management company. Your team runs the meeting at McCormick Place or the hotel, and we run the city part: O'Hare and Midway pickups, Busway shuttles, room blocks, dinners on the river and the evening program.

Where should our group stay?

At the Marriott Marquis or Hyatt Regency if the meeting is at McCormick Place. In the Loop or River North for a city program. For a retreat with fly-in guests, hotels near O'Hare cut the airport transfer to a short ride.

Can we do a river cruise in winter?

The architecture cruise runs April through November. From December to March, we suggest a museum evening or the Skydeck instead. A December holiday party moves indoors to a Museum Campus venue or a hotel ballroom.

Can you add team building in Chicago for our group?

Yes. Our racing and flight simulator contests run in a hotel ballroom by McCormick Place or a meeting room in the Loop, with a live leaderboard and prizes.

Can you work during a McCormick Place show week?

Yes. We plan around the show's own shuttles on the McCormick Place Busway and its hotel blocks. If you also need entertainment at your booth that week, we staff a station on the floor. For an agency that runs a client's stand, our operators work under the client's brand.
