What a booth does at a Houston event

In a city of engineers and doctors, a booth earns its place when it brings back something useful: a contact, a team picture, a post from the show floor.

Houston's show year runs on energy and medicine. The Offshore Technology Conference brings about 25,000 people to NRG Park in early May, and CERAWeek fills the hotels around the George R. Brown in March. Both crowds walk long aisles past stands that look alike.

A full-length mirror renders each visitor as an astronaut, a superhero or a figure in your campaign art within seconds. A short sign-up before the shot lets your OTC team leave the floor with names, not only foot traffic.

For a holiday party on the Altitude rooftop at the Marriott Marquis, a spinning camera arm and a slow-motion clip give guests something to film each other with. It works best where people gather around it, not along a hallway.

You'll find sizes and options for every booth format we rent on our main page.

Placing a booth in Houston venues

Houston rooms differ in power, docks and air conditioning, and each one changes where the mirror stands.

  • George R. Brown Convention Center

Halls A to E give about 639,000 sq ft on one level. A new building, GRB Houston South, is due in May 2028.

  • Discovery Green

An 11.78-acre park right next to the GRB, run by the Discovery Green Conservancy, with a 630-space garage underneath. A booth by Kinder Lake makes an outdoor reception after show hours.

  • NRG Center

More than 706,000 sq ft on one level with 109 loading bays. The booth rolls from the truck to the stand, with no elevator in between.

  • Marriott Marquis Houston

The largest ballroom in the city at 39,716 sq ft, plus a 50,000 sq ft rooftop with a lazy river shaped like Texas.

  • Houston Museum of Natural Science

On the north edge of Hermann Park, with 1,547,000 visitors in 2024. A booth near the Cockrell Butterfly Center gives a client evening a setting nobody else has.

  • POST Houston

The X Atrium holds up to 2,000 standing guests, and the Skylawn on the roof covers 5 acres.

  • The Woodlands Waterway Marriott

66,532 sq ft, 27 miles north of downtown, for companies in The Woodlands and Spring.

What comes with a Houston booking

You book the booth, the operator and the show paperwork as one order, so you deal with one contact from the quote to pack-out.

  • Delivery from one of our two bases. Our two bases are Los Angeles and Orlando, where our office and warehouse are at 310 N Orange Ave. We work across Texas and the rest of the U.S.
  • An operator all show. At the Houston Auto Show, which draws more than 450,000 visitors to NRG Park in January, the line rarely stops. Our operator keeps it moving and the aisle open.
  • Your branding. Logo frame, welcome screen and AI looks for your brand or your safety campaign.
  • Prints and phone copies. Visitors take a print and get the file by text or email.
  • More stations, same crew. Add AV rental in Houston for screens and sound, a racing simulator or VR, and the same people run them. For staff outings, see Houston team building ideas.

How a Houston booking goes

Each step lines up with a Houston deadline: exhibitor forms or a city permit.

  1. Step 1: Venue and date

    • You send the venue, the hall or room, and the date.
    • For a show, add the booth number and the exhibitor manual.
  2. Step 2: Venue rules

    • We read the exhibitor manual or venue rules and list the forms you need to file.
  3. Step 3: Quote

    • You approve the quote, the looks and the print frame.
  4. Step 4: Artwork

    • You send artwork a couple of days ahead.
  5. Step 5: Event day

    • We set up, run the booth and pack out on the venue's schedule.
    • If the booth is part of a larger program, read how we plan a full event

Houston show rules and permits for a photo booth

Texas is a right-to-work state, so the rules on a Houston show floor differ from those in New York or Chicago.

  • Your staff may build. At the George R. Brown, employees of the exhibiting company set up their own stand. Extra labor comes from Carpenters Local 551, through the show contractor or an exhibitor-appointed contractor.
  • One company owns the dock. 21st Century Expo Group handles all dock work at GRB. Hand carry means what one person carries in one trip, without a dolly, so the booth comes in as freight.
  • A licensed electrician plugs in. Every electrical connection at GRB goes through an electrician ordered from the show contractor.
  • City streets and plazas. An outdoor event on public property needs a permit from the Mayor's Office of Special Events, filed 30 days to one year ahead. A later filing pays an expedited fee and may be refused.
  • Outside city limits. In unincorporated Harris County, the Harris County Fire Marshal runs the special event process.

We send insurance documents to your venue on request.

Questions about photo booths in Houston

Can our own staff set up the photo booth at the George R. Brown?

Your staff may build your stand, but the booth arrives as freight through the dock. Our operator assembles and runs the booth once it's on your stand.

Can a photo booth run outdoors in the Houston summer?

Yes, after sunset and in the shade. The normal high in early August is about 95°F, and the city sees about 102 days a year at 90°F or more. At the Capital Group summer social for the company's employees, we set up shade tents, power and internet before the booth went live, and Houston needs the same plan plus air conditioning nearby.

What if a storm threatens our outdoor event?

Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, with the peak in August and September. For an outdoor date in those months, we agree on an indoor room at the same venue in advance, and the operator moves the booth when you call it.

Do we need a city permit to put a booth on Avenida Houston or a street?

For an event on a public street or city property, yes: the Mayor's Office of Special Events issues it. Inside a hotel, a museum or a private venue, the venue's own rules apply.

Can you bring a booth to an office in the Energy Corridor or the Medical Center?

Yes. The Energy Corridor runs 7 miles along I-10 with BP, ConocoPhillips and Shell USA offices, and the Texas Medical Center has more than 106,000 employees. Send the building's loading and security rules, and we bring the booth to your floor.

How much does it cost to rent a photo booth in Houston?

There's no fixed package price. The format, the hours, the show days and the power and internet your venue sells set the total, as listed above. Send the date and the venue, and we'll reply with a custom quote within minutes.

Which Houston weeks should we book first?

March, when CERAWeek and the rodeo run at the same time, early May for OTC, and January for the auto show at NRG Park. Comicpalooza usually fills the GRB in May or June.
