Run a team building scavenger hunt right where your group is meeting: teams chase photo challenges and clues around the neighborhood, hotel or campus. Everyone comes back to one spot for the final scores.
A hunt gets people out of their chairs and talking to colleagues they rarely sit near.
Each team has a list of tasks and limited time, so it has to choose fast: who takes photos, who reads the map, which challenge to skip. Those small decisions show how a team works better than any icebreaker.
It also suits mixed groups. The tasks call for sharp eyes and a sense of humor, and nobody needs to be an athlete. Teams walk, they don't sprint.
A hunt is one of the most flexible formats in our corporate team building program, because it works almost anywhere you can walk.
Scavenger hunt team building ideas we can build
You pick the setting and the mood, and we write the hunt around it.
City hunt
Teams explore the streets around your hotel or office: find a landmark, photograph a local detail, answer a question only the plaque on the wall can answer. It doubles as a tour for colleagues who flew in for the meeting. For more ways to get people outside, see our outdoor team building options.
Office hunt
An office team building scavenger hunt stays inside your building or campus. Clues lead to the lobby art, the break room, the product wall or a department most people never visit. New hires learn the floor plan, and teams from different floors finally meet.
Treasure hunt
A team building treasure hunt runs as a chain: each clue leads to the next, and the last one points to a hidden prize. It's a good choice when you want every team to end up in the same place, such as the room where dinner starts.
Checkpoint race
In Amazing Race team building, teams race between checkpoints, and each stop has a task they must finish before they get the next location. This style is the most competitive, so it works best for groups that like a clear winner.
What's included
You get a finished game and the people to run it, with nothing to print or hide yourself.
A route for your location. We walk the area on a map with you and set the start, the stops and the finish.
Challenges for your group. Photo and video tasks, riddles and questions, with your brand, product or meeting theme worked in if you want.
A host at the start and finish. Briefs the teams, keeps time and announces the results.
A live leaderboard. Points go up on a big screen at the finish, so teams see where they stand as they return.
A photo recap. Team photos play on the screen during the awards, and you keep them.
Sound and screens. A microphone, speakers and a display for the kickoff and the winners.
What shapes your quote
You'll know the cost of your hunt before you sign anything. Every event gets a custom quote, built around these points:
Headcount and number of teams.
Where the hunt runs: streets, a hotel, a campus or your office.
How long it lasts.
Custom challenges about your company or meeting.
The finish: just the awards, or a party with our racing simulators or an AI photo booth.
Parker Aerospace opened its campus to employees and their families, with about 500 guests expected. We delivered two flight simulators the day before, around 1 PM, so assembly and testing were done before the doors opened. From about 9 AM there was a nearly continuous line, and our operator shortened attempts so more people got a turn. Read about the two flight simulators for an aerospace open house.
For Event Collective, we shipped a flight simulator across the country to Paramount Event Venue in Morrisville, North Carolina. Access started at 10 AM for a 4 to 6 PM program, and we brought our own hotspot in case the venue Wi-Fi dropped. Families from about six years old to over forty took turns. Permissions and paperwork
The hotel, campus or building you play in will want to know who's coming and what we bring, and we handle that conversation.
We send insurance documents to venues and organizers on request. If teams will pass through hotel lobbies or a campus, we agree with the venue which areas are open and which stay off the route. For a city hunt, we keep stops on public sidewalks and plazas, and we check whether your start and finish spaces need a booking.
A hunt falls apart when teams drift off before the awards. Here's what causes it and how we prevent it.
01
A route that's too spread out.
Teams spend the hour walking, not playing. We keep the stops close and test the walking time on a map before the day.
02
No meeting point.
Without a fixed finish and time, teams wander back at random. Everyone gets the finish location and time at the kickoff.
03
Scores nobody can see.
If the points stay hidden until the end, the race feels flat. Our leaderboard updates as tasks come in.
04
Tasks that leave people out.
Physical stunts and trivia about one city sideline half the group. We write tasks anyone can do on foot.
05
No plan for weather.
Rain on a street route ends the game early. We prepare an indoor version for your hotel or office.

The people on site
You're free to play or to host your guests, because our crew runs the hunt.
Host. Starts the game, answers rule questions during play, closes scoring and leads the awards.
Event lead. Builds the route with you, deals with the venues and stays your contact from planning to the last photo.
Wherever your team meets
You don't need a local vendor in each city where your team gathers.
Two bases
Los Angeles and Orlando
West CoastEast CoastAll 50 states
We have two bases, Los Angeles and Orlando, and work across the U.S. We arrange transport and staffing as one package. Florida and the East Coast are a regular part of our work. In Orlando, a city hunt can run along International Drive, the corridor of hotels and attractions around the convention center, and start at your hotel. See where else we travel on our corporate events nationwide page.
How long does a team building scavenger hunt take?
Plan on about two hours from kickoff to awards. We can shorten it to fit your agenda.
How big should each team be?
Small enough that everyone has a job. Six to eight players per team keeps everyone busy, and we set the teams from your headcount.
Do we need to download an app?
Each team needs one charged phone with a camera. We'll confirm how teams submit answers when we plan your route.
What kinds of tasks can you put in the hunt?
Photo tasks at local landmarks, questions about your products hidden around the office, a treasure hunt that ends at dinner, or a checkpoint race between hotel floors. Tell us what your group likes, and we'll suggest a mix.
What if it rains?
We plan an indoor route in your hotel or office, so the hunt still happens.
Can the hunt end with a party?
Yes. The finish can be a room with our racing simulators, an AI photo booth or music, run by the same team.
Can remote employees join the hunt?
Yes. We run a virtual scavenger hunt on your video platform, with photo tasks people do at home and a shared scoreboard.
We'd rather stay in one room. What else do you have?
Every event gets a custom quote based on headcount, location, length and extras. The quote section above lists what shapes it.
Pick your city and date
Tell us where your team meets and when. We'll check the date right away, plan the route and run the hunt from kickoff to awards. Tell us the event type, date, city, expected guest count and budget.
