Outdoor Team Building Activities for Companies

Book outdoor team building that pulls in the whole company, from the colleague chasing first place to the one who'd rather cheer from the side. We bring surf and VR stations, a shared leaderboard, a photo booth and sound to your plaza, lawn or park.

Outdoor activities for work teams

An afternoon outside gives people from different floors a reason to talk, and the right mix of activities means nobody has to sit it out.

Pick the pieces that fit your group and your space:

  • Simulator stations. Guests ride a surf simulator or swing at a VR baseball pitch, and every score lands on one leaderboard.
  • Carnival and giant games. Ring toss, giant Jenga and similar games run on any flat lawn. See our carnival games rental options.
  • Inflatables. Obstacle courses and jousting rings for adults turn a field day into a contest. Browse inflatable attractions for adults.
  • Hunts across the site. Teams race through clues on a campus, a park or a few city blocks with a team building scavenger hunt.
  • Photos and music. An AI photo booth prints themed portraits, and a DJ table with speakers carries music and announcements across the space.

Pick at least two, so the active people compete and the rest still have something to do.

One competition, many ways to join

You get one shared contest, not five separate corners where people drift around.

  • Each station has its own screen, and the results feed a single digital leaderboard. Someone who won't step on a surfboard can still post a score at VR hockey or bring a team photo from the booth. That keeps the whole department in the game.
  • Announcements hold it together. Our AV technician runs the microphone and speakers, so you can open the program, call the standings and hand out prizes without shouting over the crowd.

What's included in an outdoor team day

One booking covers the equipment, the people and the cleanup, so you don't hire a separate vendor for each piece.

  • Delivery, setup and testing. We build the stations and run them before guests arrive.
  • An operator at every station. They explain the controls, keep the line moving and log the scores.
  • A live leaderboard. Standings stay on screen all afternoon, and you can end with a prize moment.
  • Sound for the whole space. Speakers, a wireless microphone, a mixer and a DJ table for music and announcements.
  • Your branding. The photo booth can use your logo, colors and themed image options.
  • Teardown. We pack everything after the last guest and leave the site as we found it.

How we quote an outdoor event

  • Which stations and games you choose, and how many of each.
  • Program hours and setup time.
  • Your city and the distance from one of our two bases.
  • Shade tents, power distribution and internet for the site.
  • Sound, a DJ table and an AV technician.
  • Branding on the photo booth and screens.

You'll see a quote built for your exact day before you commit, usually within minutes of sending the details.

There's no fixed package. These things shape the number:

Our page on how we quote your event budget explains what to include in your request.

Outdoor events we've run

Both of these ran in the open air, and each one shows a different side of planning outside.

Summer social

Five Interactive Stations and AV for Capital Group's "I Love LA" Summer Social

A returning client wanted an "I Love LA" summer social on the open plaza outside its office tower. We brought two surf simulators, VR Baseball, VR Hockey, a branded AI photo booth with printing and a digital leaderboard, plus four QSC speakers and a DJ table. Before the 2 to 5 PM program, our crew arrived at 9:30 AM to put up shade tents, run power and connect the photo booth to the internet. Capital Group has booked us for three events so far. Surf Simulator for EF Academy's Luau Party in Pasadena

EF Academy asked for a luau activity just two days before its party on a campus lawn. We arrived at 5 PM for a 7:30 to 9:30 PM start and checked light, a level surface, power and space for the line on site. A 50-inch TV gave riders a screen they could read outdoors. About 715 students were expected that night. See the surf simulator at EF Academy's luau.

Insurance and park paperwork

Your venue or park office gets what it asks for from us ahead of time, so nothing stalls on the morning of the event.

We send insurance documents to venues and organizers on request. If you're booking a public park, the permit has to match what shows up on the day. Los Angeles' Griffith Park, for example, requires a park event monitor, maintenance and security staff for picnics of 100 people or more.

Rules and lead times differ by county. In unincorporated Orange County, Florida, the outdoor public assembly application is due at least 35 days before the event.

We give you the station list, power needs and sound setup for your application, and we check the rules of your site before we load in.

What goes wrong outside

Outside, the site needs as much planning as the games. Here's what we plan around.

  • No shade.

People leave a station that stands in full sun, and screens wash out. We put tents over the stations and the line.

  • No power where you need it.

One outlet by the building won't run a row of screens. We bring power distribution and extra cabling.

  • Uneven ground.

A surf board or a game table on a slope isn't safe to use. We check the surface and move the layout if we have to.

  • Music nobody can hear.

Open air swallows sound. We spread speakers across the space instead of stacking them in one corner.

  • Only one kind of activity.

A program built on running loses half the team. Mixing stations, games and a photo booth keeps everyone involved.

  • A permit that doesn't cover the plan.

Inflatables or amplified sound left off the application can shut part of the day down.

How we run your outdoor day

From your first message to teardown, you'll know what happens next and who's doing it.

  1. Step 1: You send the basics

    • Date, site, city, headcount and what kind of day you want.
  2. Step 2: You get a quote

    • It lists the stations, hours, shade, power and sound.
  3. Step 3: We plan the layout

    • Where each station, tent and speaker goes, plus space for lines.
  4. Step 4: We clear the site

    • Permits, insurance documents, load-in time and parking for our truck.
  5. Step 5: We set up and test

    • Tents go up first, then stations and sound, all tested before guests arrive.
  6. Step 6: We run the program

    • Operators at the stations, scores on the leaderboard, announcements over the speakers.
  7. Step 7: We pack up

    • You get the final standings, and the site is clear.

Who runs it on the day

You don't staff anything yourself. Our crew runs the program from setup to the last box on the truck.

At the Capital Group social, four operators ran five activities while an AV technician handled the speakers, microphone and music for the whole plaza.

An event lead plans the layout with you and the venue, leads setup and stays your contact on site.

Wherever your lawn or plaza is, the same team brings the stations and runs them.

Questions

What are some good outdoor team building ideas?

Pair one competitive activity with one easy one. A surf or VR station with a leaderboard, plus giant games or a photo booth, keeps a mixed group busy.

What if it rains?

Plan a covered fallback with us when you book: a tent, a covered terrace or a room indoors. Our surf and VR stations run indoors too, so the program can move with you.

Do people need to be fit to take part?

No. The surf simulator is the most active station. VR sports, carnival games and the photo booth suit anyone who can stand for a minute.

Can you set up in a public park?

Yes, once the permit covers what we bring. You or your venue apply, and we provide the equipment list, power needs and insurance documents.

How much does outdoor team building cost?

Every event gets a custom quote. The quote section above lists what shapes it.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Short notice can still work, as the EF Academy luau above showed.
