Hospitality and tourism
Tourism employs 39% of the city's workforce, and Scottsdale ties with Atlanta for fourth in the U.S. for AAA Five-Diamond hotels. Incentive trips and resort staff nights both need activities that guests can join in minutes.
480+ corporate events · 5 years
Plan corporate events in Scottsdale around resort season, with simulators and photo booths on resort lawns, in WestWorld halls and at Old Town venues.

Scottsdale has more than 70 meeting-friendly hotels and resorts, so a program can stay on one property from breakfast to the closing party. Resort meeting rooms in the city run up to 24,500 sq ft. Send us the property name and we'll check ceiling height, power and the service corridor to your room.
WestWorld of Scottsdale
The 386-acre grounds sit at the foot of the McDowell Mountains and host about 100 events a year. The 120,460 sq ft Multi-Purpose Tent is the largest clear span tent in North America, and the 117,000 sq ft North hall is air-conditioned. Both fit a company fair with a full row of simulators.
Talking Stick Resort
On Salt River Pima-Maricopa land east of the city, the resort has 496 rooms, 21 meeting rooms and a 25,000 sq ft Grand Ballroom. Its 650-seat showroom works for a general session.
JW Marriott Camelback Inn
The Paradise Valley resort opened in 1936 on the slope of Mummy Mountain. A 2008 renovation added a ballroom, and the casitas and lawns suit a leadership retreat.
Westin Kierland Resort
Next to the 27-hole Kierland Golf Club, it pairs a golf day with an evening on the lawn.
Taliesin West
Frank Lloyd Wright's winter studio is a World Heritage Site, and his foundation hosts tours and private events there. It's a setting for an executive dinner, not a trade show.
From January to March, Scottsdale's biggest events overlap, and resort rooms go first.
Scottsdale sets its own rules on tents and permits, and the summer heat adds limits of its own.
Tent permits
The Scottsdale Fire Department permits any tent over 400 sq ft and any open canopy over 700 sq ft. Two or more tents at one event also need a permit. Filing less than 10 days out costs a $500 rush fee.
City special event permits
A standard permit takes 5 working days for the completeness check and up to 20 more working days for a decision. If the city asks for changes, you have 10 working days to send them.
Labor
Arizona's constitution has made it a right-to-work state since 1946. Resorts and WestWorld set their own rules for outside crews, and we confirm them in advance.
Heat and monsoon
The city's record high is 122°F. In 2018, a monsoon storm flooded Talking Stick Resort's generators and forced an evacuation. From late spring to early fall, we put stations indoors or in shade and keep a backup power plan.
Sound
Since 2023, the city has reviewed its noise ordinance after complaints about event and venue sound. For outdoor parties near homes, we plan speaker placement and an early end to amplified music.
