Photo booths in Los Angeles: why they work at company events

Los Angeles guests know how a good image looks, and many of them make images for a living, so the booth has to give them a picture worth posting.

The studios in Culver City and Burbank, the Silicon Beach offices of Google, YouTube and Snap, and the investment firms Downtown all hold launches, wrap parties and summer socials. Each crowd wants a different picture, and the booth can switch looks for each one.

The full-length mirror turns each guest into a styled portrait in seconds. For a Burbank studio screening, the looks can follow the show's art. For a Silicon Beach launch, a sign-up step before the shot collects contacts.

A camera arm circles the guest for a slow-motion clip. It suits a wrap party on a sound stage or a launch on a Santa Monica rooftop, where guests post before they leave.

Sizes and options are in our photo booth formats compared page.

Where the booth goes in LA venues

LA venues spread across the metro, and each type, from a tower to a studio lot, sets its own access rules for the booth.

  • Downtown towers and plazas

Office floors high above Bunker Hill and plazas at the base of the towers on South Hope Street, for a lobby reception or a summer social outside.

  • Los Angeles Convention Center

720,000 sq ft of halls on Figueroa Street, with room for a booth in the lobby or on your stand.

  • Sony Pictures Studios, Culver City

A 45-acre lot with 16 sound stages, MGM's home from 1924 to 1986. We worked the TEC6 launch at Sony Pictures Studios and know the lot's gate routine.

  • Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center

The Grand Ballroom covers 20,456 sq ft and the Promenade 13,200 sq ft. Photo booths in Long Beach work best in the foyer between sessions.

  • Petersen Automotive Museum

On Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile, behind the steel ribbon facade. Car brands and dealer groups book client nights here.

  • Union Station

The 1939 ticket lobby with 62 ft ceilings opens only for special events and filming, which makes a booth portrait there hard to copy.

  • Hollywood Palladium

Up to 4,000 people on Sunset Boulevard, with an 11,200 sq ft dance floor for a large company party.

What an LA booking includes

Your booth comes with the person who runs it, and one team handles the paperwork, the setup and the sound.

  • Delivery and setup. We have two bases, Los Angeles and Orlando, and work across the U.S. One crew brings the booth, sets it up and packs it out.
  • Building paperwork. Insurance documents with the names your tower, studio or venue asks for.
  • An operator for every hour. Starts each session, helps guests with poses and keeps the line moving.
  • Your branding. Logo frame, welcome screen and AI looks in your campaign style.
  • Prints and phone copies. Guests keep a print and get the file by text or email.
  • Sound from the same team. QSC speakers for the welcome, the toasts and the music, set up by the crew that runs the booth.
  • VR and team games. VR stations and contests from our LA team building activities run with the same crew.

On July 15, 2026, our AI photo booth printed branded, LA-themed portraits on the outdoor plaza at 333 S. Hope Street. It shared the plaza with two surf simulators, VR Baseball and VR Hockey. We arrived at 9:30 AM for a 2 to 5 PM program and set up shade tents, power distribution and internet for the booth before guests came out.

How an LA booking runs

The steps follow what an LA building, studio or plaza will ask you for.

  1. Step 1: Venue and date

    • You send the venue and date.
    • For a tower, add the floor and the building manager's contact.
  2. Step 2: Venue rules

    • We check the venue's rules and tell you what to order from the venue.
  3. Step 3: Quote

    • You approve the quote, the looks and the print frame.
  4. Step 4: Artwork

    • You send artwork a couple of days ahead.
  5. Step 5: Event day

    • We set up, run the booth and pack out inside the building's window.
    • If the booth is part of a bigger program, see how we run a full event

LA fire rules, building access and COI

In Los Angeles, the fire department and building managers set most of the rules for a booth, and we plan for both.

  • LAFD review. At the convention center, the Fire Inspector checks floor plans against LAFD codes. Outside it, LAFD Public Assemblage permits cover special events, tents, vehicles indoors and open flames.
  • Covered booths. At the convention center, a covered area of 750 sq ft or more needs sprinklers, and a structure over 12 ft needs a wet-stamped engineering plan. A photo booth stays well under both.
  • Exclusive services. Boldyn Networks supplies internet and Levy handles food and beverage at the convention center.
  • Towers and studios. Each building sets its access hours and the names on the certificate of insurance. We send our insurance documents on request.
  • Wind and sun. Santa Ana winds blow from late fall into spring, so we weigh down tents and backdrops on a plaza.

Questions about photo booths in Los Angeles

Does someone from your team run the booth all day?

Yes. Our LA photobooth rentals come with an operator for the whole event. For a two-day show at the convention center, the same person comes back on day two and knows your stand.

Can you bring a photo booth to a high floor in a Downtown tower?

Yes. Send the building manager's contact, and we book the freight elevator before the date.

Can the booth come to Long Beach, Pasadena or Orange County?

Yes. A photo booth rental in Long Beach, Pasadena or on the Westside comes with the same crew, and so does an event in Anaheim or Irvine.

Can the booth run outdoors in Los Angeles?

Usually, yes. From May to October rain is rare, since 92% of it falls from November to April. Mornings near the coast can be gray in May and June, and Downtown averages 84°F in August, so we plan shade for a plaza or a rooftop.

How much is a photo booth rental in Los Angeles?

It depends on your event, so there's no package price. The format, the hours, the building's elevator and dock rules and any screens you add set the total. Send the date and the venue, and we'll reply with a custom quote within minutes.

How much space does a photo booth need?

It depends on the format. The mirror stands against a wall, and the 360 platform needs clear space for the camera arm to swing. Send a floor plan or a photo of the room, and we fit the setup to your venue.

Which LA dates book up first?

The weeks around big shows at the convention center: the LA Art Show in January, Anime Expo in early July and the LA Auto Show in late November. December office parties fill next.

How fast can you book a booth in LA?

Fast, if the date is open. EF Academy booked our surf simulator for a luau in Pasadena two days before the party, and we arrived on time.

Can booth photos loop on a screen during dinner?

Yes. Projector rental in Los Angeles, screens and LED walls come on the same truck as the booth, so photos can loop during dinner at a Downtown ballroom or the awards at the Palladium.
