Racing Simulator Team Building Challenge with Live Leaderboard

Simulator team building with us turns your group into racing teams, and every lap counts toward a team score on the big screen. People waiting for their turn cheer for their own side instead of checking email.

Team challenges we've run

Here are two office challenges and one aviation contest our operators ran for corporate teams.

  • Two racing stations with the leaderboard screen in the middle, in an office tower event space

Ten prize places on the 55th floor

Capital Group wanted colleagues to compete for a real result. We put two cockpits side by side under one ranking, and the podium went ten places deep.

A larger group needs more seats in play at once. Four stations fed one shared standings screen inside a Hawaiian Luau party, and the four-station Capital Group employee social shows how the afternoon ran.

Why a race works as simulator team building

A race gives a mixed group one goal that nobody needs explained, and it lets the quiet people score points too.

Everyone knows what a lap time means. A finance analyst who has never held a racing wheel can post a time, and that time adds to the team total the same way the sales director's does. Seniority doesn't matter in the cockpit.

Most of the action happens off the seat. Teammates coach the next driver, argue about racing lines and crowd around the screen when their colleague crosses the line. That's the part people talk about back at the office.

How the team challenge runs

  • Teams. Split by department, by office or at random. We give each team a name and a color on the leaderboard.
  • Practice laps. Each driver gets a short warm-up with the operator before anything counts.
  • Qualifying heats. Drivers from each team take turns. Their best laps add up to the team score, so a steady driver helps as much as a fast one.
  • Head-to-head finals. The top teams send their fastest drivers to race side by side on paired cockpits while the room watches.
  • Prize ceremony. We call the podium, hand out trophies or branded gifts and post the final standings.

You pick the teams and the stakes. We turn them into a schedule that keeps every team busy from the first heat to the trophy.

Want a second discipline? A flight simulator round adds a precision landing contest next to the race, and points from both feed one team table.

What's included in the challenge

You book one package and get the whole competition, from the first heat to the last trophy.

  • Racing stations. Cockpits with a seat, wheel and pedals, a display and the gaming system. The full kit is on our racing simulator rental page.
  • Team scoring. Lap timing and a live leaderboard on its own screen, showing team totals and the fastest individual drivers.
  • Bracket and schedule. We build the heats around your agenda and guest count before event day.
  • Operators. They brief drivers, call the next team up and keep the heats moving.
  • Unlimited runs. Teams race as often as the schedule allows.
  • Branding. Your logo and team colors on the cockpits and the leaderboard.
  • Prize ceremony. Champagne or branded gifts on request.
  • Final standings. We send them after the event, ready for your internal newsletter.

How we quote a team challenge

You get one quote for the whole competition, and it comes in minutes.

There's no fixed price list. The quote follows your format:

  • Number of stations, and whether you add a flight round.
  • Event hours and how many guests will race.
  • Your city and venue.
  • Branding, extra leaderboard screens and the prize ceremony.
  • Your venue's floor, access and load-in hours.

See how we quote for what to include in your request.

Racing simulator team building in detail

Capital Group Racing Simulator Challenge on the 55th Floor in Downtown LA

A short time window with a big prize table. Our crew started at 9 AM for a 2 to 5 PM challenge. Each race took about three minutes, and both stations ran almost without a break. Afterwards, the Capital Group contact sent positive feedback. Capital Group has booked us for three events so far.

Planning for a large group? We kept runs to about 90 seconds of driving, around two and a half minutes per guest with the briefing and seat change. Two of our team members guided drivers across the four stations. After the party, the client received the final leaderboard.

Two Flight Simulators for an Aerospace Employee Open House in Irvine

A flight contest for a mixed-age crowd. The stations arrived the afternoon before, so assembly and testing were done by morning. When a line formed, the operator shortened attempts to let more employees and family members fly. This was an open house with challenge scoring, and a team bracket follows the same pattern.

Insurance and building rules

Your facilities team gets our paperwork early, so setup day starts on time.

We provide insurance documents to venues and organizers on request. Office towers often have their own rules for contractors: certificates, freight elevator bookings, loading dock slots. For the Capital Group employee social, we met the building's insurance requirements ahead of event day. Send us your building's contractor rules with the request.

Where team challenges go wrong

A few causes sink a team race. Each one costs you guest attention, and each one is easy to plan out.

  • No bracket before the doors open.

Guests line up at random, and nobody knows when their team races. We fix the heat order with you in advance.

  • Only individual times count.

The fast drivers dominate and everyone else watches. Team totals give every driver a reason to race.

  • Long runs.

Each extra minute in the seat makes the wait longer for everyone behind. We keep runs short and changeovers quick.

  • A ranking nobody can see.

If the standings sit on a small monitor, teams lose track of the race. We put them on a separate screen facing the room.

  • No finish.

A challenge that just stops at the end of the slot feels flat. We plan a final and a prize moment into your schedule.

From your first message to the trophy

You'll know who does what at each step.

  1. Step 1: Send the basics

  2. Step 2: Get your quote

    • It lists stations, hours and options.
  3. Step 3: Agree on the format

    • Teams, heats, scoring, finals, prizes and branding.
  4. Step 4: Clear the venue

    • Access times, floor plan, outlets and insurance documents.
  5. Step 5: Set up and test

    • We build the stations and run test laps before your guests arrive.
  6. Step 6: Race

    • Operators run the heats, update the standings and call the finals.
  7. Step 7: Award and pack up

    • Prizes go out, the stations come down, and you receive the final standings.

Who runs your challenge

You don't need anyone from your side at the stations.

  • Operators. Brief every driver, manage the heat order and keep the leaderboard current.
  • Race host. Announces the heats, calls the finals and runs the prize ceremony on a microphone.
  • Event lead. Plans the bracket and the layout with you, leads setup and teardown and stays your contact on the day.

We have two bases, Los Angeles and Orlando, and work across the U.S. Florida and the East Coast are a regular part of our work. Orlando is a simulation town: the Central Florida Research Park next to UCF holds simulation and training companies, and the I/ITSEC show runs at the Orange County Convention Center. We plan transport, setup and staffing together, so you deal with one team. Send us your city, whether it's Atlanta, Chicago, Denver or Nashville.

Questions

Do people need racing experience?

No. Every driver gets practice laps with an operator first. The team format also helps beginners, since a steady lap still adds to the team score.

How many people can race in an hour?

At about two and a half minutes per guest, one station handles roughly 20 guests an hour. For a big group, we add stations so every team gets enough laps.

How long should the challenge run?

As long as your agenda allows. Tell us the time slot, and we'll fit qualifying, finals and the ceremony into it.

How is the team score calculated?

We agree on it before the event. By default, each team's best laps add up, and the top teams race head to head in the finals.

How much does a team race cost?

Every event gets a custom quote. It depends on stations, hours, city and options, as listed in the quote section above.

Can you set it up in our office?

Yes. Our challenges have run in office towers. We check elevators, floor space and outlets with your facilities team.

What else can we add besides racing?

A flight round fits next to the race. For other formats, browse our corporate team building programs.
