Sales Kickoff Meeting Planning That Energizes the Team

We plan your sales kickoff meeting so reps leave with the new plan in their heads and a reason to beat each other in Q1. Between sessions, they compete on a live leaderboard, and the winners go up on stage.

What a kickoff meeting has to do for sales

A sales kickoff earns its budget when the quarter after it looks different. Everything in the program should serve that.

Most companies hold their kickoff at the start of the fiscal year, often in January or February. Reps hear the strategy, meet the new products, train and celebrate last year's winners. Then they fly home and the pipeline shows whether it worked.

The risk is energy. By the afternoon of day two, a room full of salespeople has heard a lot of slides. We plan the agenda so people move, compete and talk to colleagues from other regions. For year-round formats, see our events for sales teams.

Sales meeting planning around your agenda

You own the message. We build the days around it and run everything that isn't on your slides.

  • Your goals first. We start with what reps should know, believe and do differently after the kickoff.
  • Then the logistics. The venue, room sets, travel and the run of show. Smaller regional meetings work the same way; our meeting planning services cover them.
  • On site. Our team runs the stage, the sound and the activities, so your sales leaders can stay with their people.

What drives the quote

You'll get a quote for your exact program within minutes, ready for your budget review.

The quote depends on:

  • Headcount, days and the number of rooms.
  • Whether we handle the venue and travel, or only the program.
  • Stage, sound and screens for each room.
  • How many stations and operators, and for how many hours.
  • Branding across stations and screens.
  • Your city and travel. We have two bases, Los Angeles and Orlando.

Hotel and venue requirements

Kickoff venues are often hotels with strict rules for vendors, and we clear them before you sign off.

We send insurance documents to venues and organizers on request. For a corporate office building, we met the building's insurance requirements before event day. We also agree dock times, elevator bookings, power and passes with the venue's events team.

Why kickoffs lose the room

Each of these problems is fixable at the planning stage.

  • Too many slides in a row. Attention drops after lunch. We break long blocks with movement and competition.
  • A competition nobody follows. If the ranking isn't visible, the game dies. A leaderboard screen in the main hall keeps it alive.
  • Bad audio in the main room. Reps miss the strategy they flew in to hear. We test every microphone before doors.
  • Dates that clash. Quarter-end and the week after a major holiday hurt attendance. Pick the date with that in mind.
  • No follow-up. Without a plan for the weeks after, the kickoff is a nice trip. Agree on what you'll measure, such as pipeline and quota attainment, before the event.

Sales kickoff questions

What does sales kickoff mean?

A sales kickoff (SKO) is the meeting that starts the sales year. Reps hear the strategy and targets, learn the new products, train and see last year's winners on stage.

What is a good agenda for a sales kickoff meeting?

Open with the strategy and the numbers, then product and training blocks in shorter sessions. Put competition between the blocks, awards near the end and an evening program after the last session.

When should we start planning a January kickoff?

In the fourth quarter of the year before, or earlier. Venues for January and February book up fast.

Can the competition run across several days?

Yes. One leaderboard can run the whole event, with points from each day adding up for the final awards.

Can you work with our existing agenda and speakers?

Yes. We plan around your content. We handle the venue, stage, sound, activities and staff.

How much does a sales kickoff cost?

Every kickoff gets a custom quote. Headcount, days, city and the parts you hand to us set the number.

Do you also run virtual or hybrid kickoffs?

Yes. We stream the general session to remote reps on the platform you use and run the room AV on site.

Check your kickoff dates

Send us the dates, the city and your headcount. We'll reply right away and quote the program, AV and competition together. Tell us the event type, dates, city, headcount and budget. Add whether the venue is booked and which awards you plan to give. Or call +1 213 912 1010
